RA7R Heavy Duty Slide Gets Beefed Up

Aug 12, 2013   //   Product review  //  No Comments

Specialised RA7R

We do a lot of bespoke work for customers, one of which was a re-development of our RA7R heavy duty slide.  In this instance the customer asked for a unique hole-fixing pattern, using counter sunk M8 holes on the outer beam, which was due to concerns over the extreme shock and vibration the application would have to face during its working life.

In response Chambrelan re-created the RA7R heavy duty slide, by nitro-carburising the slide, increasing it’s surface hardness, which was needed to counter the problem of brinelling, which in time would twist and break a normal slide under the same conditions.

The RA7 heavy duty slide has always been one of our most popular slides, chosen by vehicle builders and manufactures the RA7 heavy duty slide has a history of being an excellent performer, meeting rigorous work cycles without buckling, twisting or brinnelling, which occurs cheaper slides.  The RA7 heavy duty slide has been designed to deliver extreme loads in extreme environments.  Not the heavy duty slide for you?  Our range of heavy duty slides cover everything from light duty aluminium slides, designed for electrical applications and where precision movement is required to massive heavy duty stainless steel slides built for extreme loads on vehicle builders for the military and defence applications.

Our slides have been used for a huge range of applications including rolling stock, defence, off shore, manufacturing  and food processing.  Our slides are favoured due to their engineering precision and load carrying capacities, what’s more they’re easy to fit and easy to maintain.

In addition we offer a slam lock drawer front for customers who require heavy duty drawer slides and in this respect our slam lock drawer front complete our offer of drawer slides.  If you need any advice or looking at sourcing something we don’t have we’d be delighted to help you choose the heavy duty slide for you.

Red stops, Blue Stops

Many of you who buy our heavy duty drawer slides and linear motion systems regularly will notice that there’s been a daub of colour to our heavy duty drawer slides and linear motion systems, by way of two rather tastefully coloured ‘end stops’.  This isn’t Chambrelan’s way of brightening up your stores, but in fact an attempt at distinguishing our stainless steel slides from our steel slides.

So just for your records the red end stops represent our stainless steel heavy duty drawer slides or linear motion systems and the blue end stops represent our steel heavy duty drawer slides or linear motion systems.

Our range of linear motion systems can be cut to any length and fitted with one of our two carriers, either our steel ball bearing carrier or our duel roller carrier.

For further information on the these or on any of our heavy duty slides and sliding systems please visit www.chambrelan.com or alternatively contact Jeremy Binnington on 07868 971 089 or Tony Macis on 07868 971 089.

Linear Rails – Check out our Range

Linear Rails – Light Duty Linear Motion Rail:

To make things easier for customers we’ve broken our complete collection of linear rail motion systems into light, medium and heavy-duty ranges.  This month we’ll be examining what products make up our light duty range.

At the lighter end of this range is the Light Duty (LD) light D409.  Made from aluminium rail, this is a feather-weight linear motion rail, perfect for the electronics industry and smaller precision focused applications, where loads are slight, but a smooth regular operation is essential.

Sandwiched in the middle of our light range is the Medium Duty (MD) light D48 linear motion rail our medium LD linear motion rail.  Again made from aluminium this rail is perfect for lighter loads and fewer duty cycles, whilst maintaining a consistent performance and being a very price conscious linear motion rail.

At the strong end of our Light duty range is the Heavy Duty (HD) light E28 linear motion rail.  Made from zinc plated steel, the E28’s slim profile and exceptionally smooth operation means it can fit into the tightest space envelope and is ideal for applications like sliding doors, machine guarding and carrying lighter loads on a vertical plane.

All our carriers use recirculating ball bearings, which spread loads and allows a smoother operation.  In addition we’ve just launched a new roller carrier, which can be tightened to fit the movement.  we can cut our linear motion rails to any size.  Looking for something a little more durable?  For a full range of linear motion products visit http://www.linearrails.co.uk/eshop/  we’re here to help and advise on any aspect of your application and if you need something prototyping we’d be happy to help.

Heavy Duty Slides Extend Boat Platform

Extendable Party Platform

Client:              Jon Chance

Location:        South Coast

Application:  Extendable party platform

Brief:                     Jon Chance is passionate about boating and recently invested in a Sealord 344 off shore cruiser to take his friends night fishing off the south coast.  Commissioned in 2005 the cruiser boasts a 200hp diesel engine, bow thrusters and leather upholstery, a teak cockpit and fly-bridge decks.  At the rear of the boat there is a bathing platform, which unfortunately prevented Jon and his friends from casting off the back of the boat.  The problem was how to extend the back of the boat, without increasing the mooring costs, which are charged per metre.

Solution:            Choosing the right heavy-duty telescopic slide wasn’t the only problem faced by Jon.  He needed a specific type of high-grade marine steel, which wouldn’t rust or rot when subjected to the sea.  Jon chose four Chambrelan’s ST708’s, a three beam stainless steel slide, with over a metre extension and reinforced ball bearing to improve load capacity and resistance to torque loads.  Those of you with a keen eye will notice that we have no shots of the party platform being extended.  Fear not, we’ll send you a follow up post, featuring photos of the platform in operation.

Feedback:            “Chambrelan’s customer service was fantastic, they helped me identify the slides I needed and made sure we received them.”  Jon Chance

The ST708 is one of Chambrelan’s strongest slides and is a formidable heavy duty slide, capable of carrying terrific loads at full extension.  For more details on the ST708, or any of our heavy duty slides and linear rail motion systems, call us directly on 01746 761 114
