Inside is a fridge that carries 180 kilos of macaroons…

Client: Laduree

Location: London

Application: Macaroon Shop

Brief: Established in Paris in 1862 Laduree have always been considered the most exciting and delicious pastry chefs for over a hundred years and with a growing range of delicacies to their name it was only a question of time before their delicious macaroons made their way across the channel. With a number of concessions around central London, including Harrods, Laduree have grown their reputation for being prestigious pastry innovators far and wide.

Where Macaroons come to be eaten

Unfortunately, there was a problem with one of their fridge storage draws in their Burlington arcade store. Each fridge draw needed to carry a huge 180 kilos of macaroons, but the draw slides that had been fitted to the fridge were buckling under the weight which was preventing the staff from operating the draw safely.

Two options were available, either to reconfigure the entire internal structure of the fridge, which was deemed too difficult, too time consuming and too costly or alternatively replace the draw with a pair of stronger more versatile slides. The team decided to go for option ‘B’ and that’s when they found Chambrelan.

Macaroons, yesterday.

Macaroons, yesterday.

Solution: By working with Chambrelan Laduree selected the R53 as being the best macaroon fridge slide which was more than capable of carrying these incredibly tasty and yet extremely heavy macaroons. The R53 is a steel two beam nested slide, designed to be a load carrying work horse with a small enough space profile capable of fitting into the fridge unit. With its smooth operational movement, the R53 allows extreme loads to be carried, whilst not compromising on performance.

Conclusion: “The R53 has provided us with a very strong drawer slide, capable of carrying the heavy loads required. They were a great choice.”

Under Stair Storage using Heavy duty slides

Client: Tony Hickman

Location: UK

Application: Under-stair storage

Brief: Dads: The under-sung heroes of home DIY, have just found a new champion. Meet Tony whose recently married daughter moved into their new home before Christmas and with a young family on its way needed extra storage space for their house. With the removal of an old boiler, space was made under the stairs and Tony quickly set to work building a series of storage drawers, that required Chambrelan’s heavy duty slides.

“I wanted to utilise the total depth of the cupboard,” said Tony, “but realising that it was 36 inches deep that any item stored at the rear of any potential shelving would be inaccessible due to any items placed in front of them, so the only solution was to make the drawer system reach out far enough to allow access to items and that’s when we found Chambrelan.”

Solution: The R53 is a lean and incredibly strong two-beamed telescopic slide. Zinc plated for extra protection these space conscious slides are capable of carrying 160kg per pair at 600mm and employ a run of stainless steel ball bearings that offer a smoother handling operation, despite the load. This is a medium duty slide, that requires a durable telescopic slide that will not bend or twist with over use and therefore is an ideal option for draw systems and stowage applications.

Feedback: “The Chambrelan team were a great help in understanding what I was trying to do and provided me with the exact slide I required. Thank you very much.” Tony Hickman.

Van Conversion uses Telescopic Slides

Van conversion with heavy duty slides

motorcross van conversion using Chambrelan heavy duty slides

Client: Andy

Location: Midlands

Application: Van Conversion

Brief:   With a shared passion for motorcross Andy and his young son regularly compete at off road championships across the country. Not only is it a physically demanding sport held in all weathers, but not surprisingly the bikes take such a beating the team needed to be able to carry three bikes with them to any one event.

Having bought a Mercedes sprinter to convert as a motorcross van the father and son race team decided to spec it out so that the bikes could be delivered by hydraulics to the rear of the vehicle. The hydraulics system allows for the heavy weight of the bikes to be withdrawn and extended even if the vehicle is facing up or down hill.

strong enough to carry three bikes

“There’s a lot of kit,” said Andy, “it’s not just the bikes, but the riders equipment, the fuel and all the necessary tools needed to keep the bikes running. We knew we needed a pair of heavy duty telescopic slides that would be able to carry that weight at 2.2m extension.”

Solution: The best pair of heavy duty slides capable of taking the 300-350kg projected weight of the bikes was the E1902. The E1902 is one of Chambrelan’s most durable and heavy duty slides, capable of carrying extreme loads the E1902 is a reinforced three beam heavy duty slide (capable of carrying 785kg per pair in the closed position).   Favoured by the emergency services and military applications the E1902 is zinc plated for extra corrosion protection and is reinforced for extra strength.
