Slam Lock Draw Fronts

As leading manufacture of drawer slides and linear rail systems Chambrelan have recently completed their offer by designing a slam lock draw front, sales of which have been growing since we launched the slam lock over a year ago.  The latest option, which boasts a quick lock instant release mechanism with both a lock in and lock out option, is now being used across vehicle builders in the commercial sector and the emergency services.

Made from high strength, Grade ‘A’ plastics for better endurance and performance, the LILO slam lock has been designed to take the punishment dished out on a daily basis by front line fire crews, engineers and those working with defence applications.  Because of this the slam lock is incredibly robust with fewer working parts that can’t jam or snarl up due to regular use.  The Slam lock uses a stainless steel bar and stainless steel fasteners for added strength when locked in place and an aluminium handle which is coated in a black electrochemical deposition coating (EDC) and has passed over 310 hours of salt spray testing with incredible results.

Available in both black and yellow for extra visibility these easy to fit easy to maintain handles are currently being used by national and international vehicle builders and manufacturers.

Our range of drawer slides and telescopic slides have been used for light, medium and heavy duty applications where slides need to operate on a regular basis.  Whether it’s a precision guided slide, designed for ATM and electronic dispensers or a more rugged drawer slide capable of carrying essential cutting equipment or generators, we have the range of slides which have for over 50 years been tried and tested in the field.

Drawer slide tolerances

Chambrelan Heavy Duty Slides Made from Cold Drawn Steel Section

Chambrelan UK use an internationally recognised set of tolerances (IS02768) to ensure our products meet the strict quality guidelines set out by the European Union.  Tolerances ensure that the product meets and conforms to its exact design specification.  This is important when standardising our products to meet the gruelling and often extreme conditions and is way that Chambrelan can guarantee quality over and over again.

Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Slides From Chambrelan Means Better Extension

Why have Aluminium when you could have stainless steel?  Okay so the weigh’s probably one reason and the application is going  to be another, but with an upsurge of enquiries for our stainless steel drawer slides, we thought we’d give you an overview of why our stainless steel drawer slides are considered by the industry as being standard kit for heavier duty applications.

The working processes required for stainless steel do differ slightly to those for carbon steel but while being geared to meet the unique properties of the material are essentially the same as those for carbon steel. The drawing process imparts strength and structural stability into the profile of the section, more so than achieved by using stainless steel strip within a rolling process.  The drawing process imparts a much stronger ‘memory’ into the material and unlike sections produced by the rolling process, cold drawn sections are more resilient to loss of dimensional accuracy due to shock and vibration.  On a pro rata basis our stainless steel products are no more expensive than other stainless steel products on the market and suitable for marine environments, highly corrosive work areas due to acids or alkaline and high temperature applications.

Chambrelan’s Bi-Directional Drawer Slides

bi directional drawer slides

Chambrelan’s Bi Directional Slides go both ways!

As well as our standard range of heavy duty drawer slides, we also do many of our drawer slides with bi-directional functionality.  Chambrelan call these our Double Development (DD) slides and come in a number of materials including aluminium, steel and stainless steel to give customers greater choice.

Our 3 beam bi-directional drawer slides benefit from sequential operating mechanisms, which means the inner beam collects the intermediate beam in sequence as it travels.  If it didn’t do this, the inner beam would return to its closed position and the intermediate beam would protrude out causing obstructions.  In addition all our bi-directional slides maintain the load rating in both directions.  From a parked or closed position our slides offer 100% extension or a partial extension for both our 2 beam and 3 beam slides.  Sequential moving slides mean that extremely heavy loads can be handled with the minimum of operating force being applied.

We’ve designed our range of ‘bi-directional drawer slides’ to be used in a number of applications including materials handling, medical equipment – including medical beds – stowage systems, industrial furnaces and specialist vehicles that require access from both sides of the vehicle or, for that matter, the application.

We believe our DD collection delivers over and above other manufacturers in that we have a huge number of bi directional slides starting from lighter duty models through to heavy duty slides made for the heaviest and most demanding applications.  Here’s a list of our DD slides:
